EIFFEL TOWER On the banks of the Seine, in Paris, stands the Eiffel Tower, a magnificent iron structure that illuminates Paris and, from a more general point of view, France. If only one French architectural element were to represent this country, it would be the Eiffel Tower, well ahead of other equally prestigious but less emblematic monuments: the Louvre, the Pont du Gard, the Gothic cathedrals or the Loire castles. Even famous sites such as the Arc de Triomphe do not manage to symbolize France as well as the Eiffel Tower does, which shows its importance for the international reputation of this country. CHAMPS DE MARS With its surface area of nearly 25 hectares, the Champ-de-Mars is one of the largest green spaces in the capital; it extends from the Trocadero esplanade to the Ecole Militaire. This vast public garden is certainly a very busy place throughout the year, but what makes it a must-see is obviously the Eiffel Tower: you can discover its "underside" when you walk on the Champ-de-Mars. It is one of the few places in Paris that brings together both tourists and Parisians: the most patient can visit the Eiffel Tower and enjoy a meal on the second floor of the tower, at 58 Tour Eiffel, to admire the view and the French gastronomy. The most impatient will head for the Bateaux Parisiens which leave from the quays, located at the entrance of the Champ-de-Mars and offer an exceptional visit of the capital. Parisian families, for their part, take advantage of the green spaces to play sports, share a picnic during the summer, or simply to let their children discover new activities: merry-go-rounds, pony rides, or even the Guignol theater. In the evening, the Champ-de-Mars is regularly open to concerts. In short, a friendly space, to be discovered preferably at the end of the summer, when the weather is still good and the lawns are not crowded anymore. INVALIDES To reach the westernmost part of the rue de Grenelle, you have to go through the Place des Invalides. You will discover the rigorously symmetrical layout of the northern façade of the Hôtel des Invalides and catch a glimpse of the imposing dome of its royal chapel. It may also be an opportunity to visit the Musée de l'Armée or the Musée des Plans-Reliefs. Despite the fame of the building in which they are located, these two museums are not very well known. However, they are among the most interesting places in the capital to discover and learn more about the History of France! ALMA BRIDGE The Alma bridge is the first bridge with three arches built during the great works of Baron Haussmann in 1894 and at the request of Napoleon III. Its name is known worldwide since the tragic accident of Princess Diana. The bridge connects the Place de l'Alma and its famous flame of the Statue of Liberty on its right bank and the Quai Branly Museum and the Paris Sewers Museum on its left bank. It is here that we find the zouave, a real altimeter for the floods.
