The 17th arrondissement is best known for being a quiet, family-friendly district. With its wide avenues and numerous offices, the area is certainly 'remote' from the hustle and bustle of Paris. But at the heart of the district lies one of the capital's most unmissable villages: Les Batignolles. In fact, there's a good reason why the Batignolles is described as a "village": once you've wandered around it, you'll rediscover the true spirit of local life.The Batignolles district is bursting with immense green spaces. For a poetic interlude, and why not meditate by the water alongside the geese and ducks, there's nothing better than the Square des Batignolles. With its English style and 16,000 m2, it offers a view worthy of a Monet impressionist painting: a stream, trees, a waterfall and even a grotto serving as decorum. After that, sigh: things are looking much better.When it comes to flavours, head for rue de Levis. This shopping street has plenty to whet the appetite with its many food shops: pork butchers, cheesemongers, butchers, creameries, bakers and confectioners, delicatessens, wine merchants, etc. Most of the street is reserved for pedestrians, making it the ideal place to do your shopping or stroll past the colourful stalls.If you continue a little further, you'll come across the magnificent Parc Monceau for a stroll or a picnic.A veritable Paris institution, the Batignolles organic market on Boulevard des Batignolles is one of the most famous in the capital. There's even an aromatic herb stand where you can drink herbal juices. Another option for buying ultra-fresh produce is the Au Bout du champ shop, which sells a selection of fruit and vegetables every day (until 10pm!), picked up that very morning from farmers in the Paris region.
